Oil spills can cause a large amount of damage. In the past there has been a number of accidents, where large quantities of oil have been spilled.
This inspired our director Mr. Kampers to develop a way to remove oil from the water surface. Development of the rigid sweeping arm began over thirty years ago and took place in cooperation with the Dutch Coast Guard and TNO.
The goal was to produce a simple but effective tool that could recover large quantities of oil.
The rigid sweeping arm is the result of years of development in this field. It has been used and has successfully operated during the largest most recent oil spills , including the disasters with the Erika, the Sea Empress and The Prestige.
Following the Prestige disaster in 2002, and in light of the excellent performance of the rigid sweeping arms during this oil spill disaster , the demand for the Koseq rigid sweeping arms dramatically increased Prior to the Prestige disaster, most of the rigid sweeping arms were used by the Dutch Coast Guard, but, following this event, rising international demand led to Kampers forming a new company: Koseq.
The Koseq sweeping arm has proven to be the best tool for recovering oil from the sea. This is demonstrated and proved by the independent EMSA document, which reports the effectiveness of various oil recovery equipment used during the prestige spill. In this case, the Koseq sweeping arms were the most effective oil recovery equipment used to recover oil. You can download the full report from the EMSA website. |
